| Why set your default
location? |
| Selecting your address as
the default location personalises the Online Maps to make it more relevant
to your location. Once you have selected your address you will see it
displayed as text above the map and as an icon locating it on the map.
Every time you visit, you'll be just one click away from a wealth of
information about where you live. Personalisation relies on cookies to
remember your address. If you can't get it to work properly, it's probably
because your browser refuses to accept cookies. You can normally change
this in your browser's options. |
| What is a
cookie? |
| Cookies are small pieces
of code received by your web browser. They pass information back to
websites so the sites can 'remember' your preferences; in this case a
chosen address. They are very small, cannot spread viruses and don't use
up much disk space. You're not damaging your PC or software by using a
cookie - you're only enhancing your interaction with websites. If you are
worried about this, you can use your browser to restrict or even cancel
the use of cookies. You will still be able to use the site it simply won’t
remember your address for future use. You can also remove the cookie by
clicking on the Reset link. |
