Bath Preservation Trust Bath Preservation Trust , 1 Royal Crescent, City Centre, Bath, Bath And North East Somerset, BA1 2LR O 04/01/2018: The Trust strongly objects to this application. By virtue of its materials (acrylic, vinyl and aluminium), brash and strident colour scheme and illumination the proposed scheme is detrimental to visual amenity of the streetscape, detracting from the special qualities of the WHS and neither preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of the conservation area.
The application fails to consider guidance set out in B&NES’ Commercial Signage in the Conservation Area Guidance SPD and is contrary to Section 12 (Conserving and Enhancing the Historic Environment) of the NPPF, policies B1, B4 and CP6 of the B&NES Core Strategy and policies DW1, B4, D1, D2, D4 and HE1 of the Placemaking Plan. We would therefore recommend this scheme is refused.
