The benefit of the completed structure will ultimately be felt in greater access to a healthy lifestyle for those that Bath CC reach out and support. Ultimately playing its part in reducing the strain on the taxpayer by helping with a healthy lifestyle both physically and mentally. This provision of access to sport and exercise is vital not only for Bath but the UK in general which has an increasingly poor focus on health, sitting near the bottom of the EU tables. - it will greatly disturb the landscape and ambience of the city; the building itself will be too high and massed.
- yet again students (presumably wealthy in that they can afford to live in the centre of town) are being favoured. What about permanent members of the community such as nurses, school teachers, fire personnel and young people who need to live near their workplaces? Demographically this is a negative development in my opinion.
- it is another example of the continued erosion of open space in Bath.

The club's coaching of youngsters is first-class, and it is outward-looking in its involvement in the community. This plan strikes me as a sympathetic and imaginative use of the space. There is much talk of there being too many students spilling into residential areas such as Oldfield Park. By providing student accommodation on this site, while improving the club's own facilities and retaining the car parking, this development would be taking some of the pressure off student housing elsewhere - and, as I understand it, all within a project that will cost council tax payers nothing and further strengthen the work of the club. 11/10/2017

We live very close to the proposed site so it would impact our lives hugely if this proposal went through. We are a young recently married hardworking self employed couple. We feel privileged to live in such a fantastic city and a beautiful area of Bath. This is our forever home. We want to start our family here but recently it's feeling more like a university campus. Which is not the ideal community to bring up children. Considering the development of the Student Castle which comprises of well over one hundred student accommodations across the road we feel this new development will impact our enjoyment of our forever home and the community for our children to grow up. The noise from the students already living in area is high (last night we were still awake at 2am listening to them!) bringing up children with noise and distruption is not acceptable. We are extremely worried about the restrictions of sunlight and view for our property and We are extremely concerned on the impact on the value of our house.

We already have three student accommodations in this area. Two on Pulteney road and the recently developed Student Castle which are luxury student flats. This is same principle for the cricket ground proposal. We don't need more luxury student accommodation. When the price is well above the affordability of average UK student. I believe both Bath universities have made it their aim to house more students on campus. Both sites have vast amounts of space to develop. This would also cut city centre traffic and pollution.
In Bath we need more affordable housing. We need homes so our young professionals can live, work and be able to bring up their families in such a fantastic city. Most of my peers have moved away from Bath to afford to start their families yet your happy to overdevelop our city by building luxury student accommodation for students who don't pay council tax! And pricing local people out. We want to live in a community not a university campus. We think this development will be detrimental to our local community, local businesses and the local beauty of area.
The construction worries us on many points. The indoor cricket facility has only just been built in the last few years if that. And it's going be knocked down? What a waste of money. The traffic in area is already horrendous. Awful morning and afternoon tail backs not to mention the gridlock of Bath rugby match days. We've enough traffic without adding that many people in small area. We especially don't need to add more pedestrians and traffic to one of areas highest accidents spots in Bath. Especially adding more high risk drivers in a highly populated area. Under 25s are highest risk on our road. More likely to cause an accident than any other age group. But also the risk and distruption of construction traffic. The Student Castle has impacted local traffic. The noise of the construction in the area is already high without another project. Any work especially ground work, tree felling and railway work will be very disruptive to our family and the local area. It makes sense to develop student accommodation on campus.
Another worry to us is the wildlife. With a city as polluted as Bath do we want to cut down yet more trees which effects our local and global environment. Cutting down more trees will also effect the local beauty. Also all the wildlife in the area will be effected. There are bats, owls, badgers, birds and insects whose homes and lives will also be impacted. The bats are protected and I trust the proper guarantees from official authorities has been gained. I don't know of any other owls living so close to the city and they must be protected as well as the badger set.

The proposed site is not very big as it is and then adding 142 bed spaces and everything that goes with people. I.e. Rubbish and bikes etc. Plus parking is always a problem especially on match days. Last weekend the area surrounding the cricket club and Pulteney Road was grid locked for well over 2 hours. I am not a person that wants to hold up development and I know the students bring revenue into the city but I know both university sites have space for more accommodation. I do not want to live on a university campus which this area is fast becoming and with foreign students, at that! If this location is fit for students, it is even more fit for some affordable housing for working people. Let the Unis house their students on their own campuses or just limit their numbers so that they are able to do so and stop being so greedy. 05/10/2017: I would like to add to my previous objection, having read other comments of support. These mostly come from people either NOT living close by or prejudiced by being users/members of the CC.
These people obviously support the Cricket Club's replacement of the indoor training facility, to which I have no objection! My objection is simply to the new student block proposal for reasons already given.

The massing of the residential buildings is too dense and too high for the site and too close to the street. The existing open space of the Cricket Club, encompassing the cricket ground on the flood plain with views to the spire of St Johns, the city's Georgian buildings and the green hillside beyond, provides an important change of character in the urban landscape between Pulteney St and North Parade. In terms of the planning application, the practice facility and the residential 'sui generis' buildings should be should be considered separately (as they could be used for any sort of residential use thereby negating the 'student' density objections). 12/10/2017

This proposal takes the next step forward and provides first class facilities for current and future players, but will also enable the club to support the provision of cricket in the wider community. This will help to engage young people and grow participation in cricket and physical activity - not just at Bath CC but throughout BATHNES, which must be seen as a positive thing when obesity rates in children are growing at alarming rates. Secondly, the current car park is ugly and whilst serving an important function in terms of parking provision for visitors and income for the club, maintaining this service whilst covering it with a development that fits in with the city will turn an eye-sore into a much better visage from North Parade road. Hannah Downey 22 Macaulay Buildings, Widcombe, Bath, Bath And North East Somerset, BA2 6AT O 09/10/2017: Firstly Bath Cricket Club is a company limited by guarantee, full disclosure of who will be financially benefitting from this development and its income should be made clear. The club already has a very healthy income generated from the car park and I question why this development is necessary for the club. Also why has this application not been made more public when it is in such an important area of the city.

-This is over development of this area of the town. A large development housing 140 student rooms has just been completed on the opposite side of the road on the corner of North Parade and Pu;tney Road and another large building is being erected on the opposite corner by the railway bridge. It will dramatically increase pedestrian and traffic movement in a confined area with all the associated issues.
-The characteristics and aesthetics of this street will be severely compromised by the scale of this build. There are many large mature trees that border the site and even if they are not all being removed the roots of any remaining trees could be compromised and the loss of any will be devastating. With a city as polluted as ours the last thing we should be doing is removing or putting trees at risk.
-It is my understanding that the build will take around 22 months to complete and there will be a loss of 6-8 parking spaces when it is finished. While the club doesn't have to provide the public with parking spaces, we have all become reliant on them. There is already a severe lack of parking space on this side of town and the removal of any more spaces temporarily or permanently will cause huge inconvenience to locals and businesses and the impact will be immense.
-Bath is already a changed city because of the severe rise in student numbers. If yet more student accommodation is required on this scale then we should be questioning the number of students that we can accommodate at all. I believe we are already over our limit now and if passing these properties through planning is to help reduce the percentage of HMOs in residential areas then this proves the point. We cannot carry on destroying the city for the sake of a transient population who don't contribute to the councils tax.

I cannot see any benefit to this scheme for the local community or the aesthetics of the area. The consequences of this build will be devastating long term let alone the impact and disruption it will cause during the build process.

Any further student accommodation should be developed on the university land where there is adequate space. So create all this on a piece of land that has no other opportunity for development and still keep the parking underneath the building!!

All sounds like an incredible opportunity for the whole city, whoever came up with this exciting development should get recognised and maybe help the council elsewhere in the city!! Hope the planners seen sense !!

All clubs will benefit from a first class cricket facility. I also live in Bath and find the number of family homes which are being rented out to students a concern. Only student accommodation can be built on this land due to the fact that the University will look after students in the event of any 1 in a 100 year flood. This will go someway to reducing the building of accommodation in other areas of the city which could house young Bath people in affordable homes 24/09/2017

Richard Claydon 14 Sydney Buildings, Bathwick, Bath, Bath And North East Somerset, BA2 6BZ O 20/09/2017: Having reviewed the plans, I am writing to object to the unacceptably high density of the proposals. The proposed development is over-bearing, out-of-scale and out of character in terms of its appearance compared with existing development in the vicinity.
Further to this, I would like to highlight that the site's primary purpose as a leisure facility. Although the provision of parking facilities can be argued to fall within this remit, converting this into accommodation does not form a part of this.
Although providing further accommodation in Bath is a pressing issue, I would like to highlight the costs of the Student Castle accommodation immediately opposite the Bath Cricket Ground site of £14k per year. Student accommodation on the Bath Cricket Ground site will most likely be targeted a similar price bracket that already has surplus supply in the Bath area.

The proposal to build high density student accommodation represents over-intensification of the site, with too many residents and a building that will be totally out of keeping with its surroundings. It is not part of the Local Plan for this land. In addition, this proposal is for luxury accommodation that is vastly out if the financial reach of ordinary U.K. students, and does not provide a benefit to either our local or even our national community. There is xleeafy a surfeit of luxury student accommodation in Bath. The application contradicts the Council's and the two Bath universities' own intentions to keep future accommodation developments on their sizeable campuses. This is yet another proposed development that would lead to the erosion of the very fabric of Bath both in terms of literal, physical space and in terms of our community and heritage. 02/10/2017

I have been involved with Bath CC for a numbers and have seen first hand the positive impact cricket has on junior members. Bath CC provides our city with the best sporting facilities which provides children with opportunities to develop the sporting and life skills associated with such activities. A development like this secures the clubs future and provides opportunities for cricketers from all walks of life to develop together. As for the university accommodation, this location already has public transport systems in place therefore adding no additional traffic to the city. Further to this, these students provide additional revenue to the city. 03/10/2017
