Dan Carter Birch Tree Cottage, 145 Greensbrook, Clutton, Bristol, Bath And North East Somerset, BS39 5PG O 21/06/2019: I was told a few days ago about a plan to remove two listed trees by no 12 the Sidings which bodes my property. When looking at the application to remove, I noticed another application to severely trim 3 other listed trees, which and presume this was for cosmetic and more light rather than benefiting the trees. I looked at the trees in question as I was told there was a split in one, dangerously leaning and both trees had root, fungal damage and were hollow. I could see the lean and split in one but couldn’t see any fungus ( presumably Canker that can infects silver birch and eventually kill it.) I couldn’t detect hollowness in either tree. The tree next to the leaning one seemed ok apart from a hole between the roots at the base.
The listed trees provide a valuable habitat with others for the less common wildlife of this pocket. Any loss of these majestic trees from the old Waldegrave Estate days would degrade this copse and I would request and expert council official in tree health to view and comment on this application and to to hold off any action until this has been done
